Energy Efficiency Alberta (ERA) Announces New SPEED Funding Program for eligible oil and gas producers

In 2022, Energy Efficiency Alberta (ERA) announced a significant funding program to support eligible oil and gas producers in Alberta in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting job creation.

Through expanded eligibility and the inclusion of new technology types, the Small Producers Energy Efficiency Deployment (SPEED) program aims to expedite the implementation of proven upgrades that assist producers in reducing operating costs and enhancing competitiveness, thereby facilitating economic recovery.

SPEED offers companies swift access to incentives of up to $1 million per parent company for the adoption of energy-efficient and cost-saving technologies.

To support SPEED funding applications, oil and gas companies were required to conduct pre- and post-upgrade methane emissions testing, showcasing reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.

Signet was engaged by 12 oil and gas companies to perform exhaust stack emissions testing on 22 engines, as part of the process to support SPEED funding applications. We successfully utilized cutting-edge GHG flue gas analyzer equipment installed in our testing vehicles, ensuring compliance with ERA SPEED measurement guidelines.

All pre- and post-upgrade testing is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2023.
